Divergence
The Kimberley region of North-Western Australia displays many an awe-inspiring natural wonders. The tidal flats that are exposed during low tides, reveal an intricate network of water channels in varying shades of aqua. The massive tidal movements, reaching up to 12 meters, create a dynamic landscape of winding water paths and contrasting shifting sands. This image is a testament to the raw power and beauty of nature, showcasing the mesmerizing spectacle of the largest tidal movements in the Southern Hemisphere. This image was created on Yawuru Country.
This image was recognised as a semi-finalist in the Scenic category of the 2023 Australian Photographic Prize. ‘Divergence’ gained an Honourable Mention in the Nature (aerial) category of the International Photography Awards (IPA). It was also a finalist in the Environment category of the Ilford Orloff Awards, and was exhibited in the State Library of Western Australia. ‘Divergence’ also received an Honourable Mention in the 2023 Neutral Density Awards and a Commended accolade in the 2023 Capture Awards.
