The Shark Bay World Heritage Area is a 2.2-million-hectare, globally significant, and highly biodiverse coastal region in Western Australia, listed by UNESCO in 1991 for all four criteria for natural heritage value.
In the centre of Shark Bay, Peron Peninsula has rolling red sand dunes. From above, the peninsula’s sweeping red dunes form the striking profile of a dragon’s face and arched neck, that appears to gaze out toward the turquoise waters of the bay, creating a vivid contrast between fiery earth and brilliant sea.
