The heritage-listed South Fremantle Power Station in North Coogee, Western Australia, was built between 1946 and 1951 to meet Perth's growing post-war electricity demand. Chosen for its access to seawater and rail infrastructure, it played a pivotal role in modernising the state's electricity network. The largest example of Art Deco industrial architecture in Western Australia, the station combines Inter-War Functionalist and Stripped Classical design. It closed in 1985 following the development of newer power stations and remains listed on the State Register of Heritage Places.
